Georg Fischhof was born in Vienna in 1859. Fischhof first studied architecture and then at the Vienna School of Applied Arts with the genre painter Friedrich Sturm and in Munich. He first turned to the imitation of old tapestries, one of those works can be seen in the throne room of Stift Klosterneuburg. He also painted under a variety of pseudonyms such as Joh. Wagner, Tihay Beleg, or A. L. Terni.
He was known for his portraits, seascapes, forest landscapes and Italian views in atmospheric late Impressionist style. He is well-known for his Mediterranean themes. Fischhof died in 1914.
