Gaston Boucart was born in Angoulême, Charente, and spent his entire life in France.
He studied under the progressive artist Gustave Moreau and later trained with Aimé Morot, François Flameng, and Fernand Cormon at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris.
Boucart specialized in architectural subjects, landscapes featuring animals, and urban scenes. He is particularly celebrated for his portrayals of country lanes, meticulously observed interiors, and the waterways and architecture of Venice, a subject he grew especially fond of.
From 1913 to 1939, Boucart exhibited his work at the Salon des Artistes Français in Paris. He became a member of the Salon and received an honorable mention in 1928, followed by a knighthood in 1937 in recognition of his contributions to art.
His works are held in the museums of Angoulême and Niort.
