Pierre Vincent Innocente (1936–2022) was a French artist and architect celebrated for his vibrant, color-driven paintings. Born to an Italian immigrant family, he developed a passion for art early in life, studying at the Art Academy of Romans under painter Pierre Palué before pursuing architectural training in Grenoble. This dual foundation informed his career; he became a noted architect-colorist in Charpey, France, integrating vivid hues into his building designs. Throughout his architectural practice, he continued to paint and exhibit widely, receiving several awards before fully dedicating himself to art upon his retirement in April 2003. Color remained the defining force in his work, which spanned still lifes—often featuring his beloved persimmons (kakis)—as well as portraits of women, landscapes and cityscapes of places like Venice and New York, and playful depictions of everyday subjects such as cats and newspapers. A versatile creator, Innocente also produced wire sculptures and decorated pebbles, though painting remained his primary medium. After his death, his studio oversaw sales of his extensive artistic legacy.
