Welcome to this special Dallas anthology exhibition celebrating the vibrant life and brilliant career of the French Colorist Mireille Gouirand (later known by her married name, Binoux).

Born in Nice on November 29, 1929, Gouirand displayed an exceptional talent for painting from a very young age. Her early promise earned her a prestigious scholarship to the Ecole Nationale Suprieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, where she studied under Professor Eugne Narbonne from 1947 to 1955. During this time, she immersed herself in the legendary post-war bohemian cultural milieu of Saint-Germain-des-Prs, forming lasting bonds with iconic contemporaries like painter Bernard Buffet, sculptor Cesar, singer Juliette Greco, and actor Jean-Pierre Cassel

Though she debuted at the Paris Salon d’Automne in 1953 as a student, her career truly blossomed across the Atlantic. Shortly after graduating, she won a major competition to design interior decor for the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York, leading to a long-term commission for their famed annual “April in Paris” events. Following December 1956 marriageFrench architect Jacques Binoux in Boston after which she proudly signed her work Binoux acclaimed exhibitions in Cambridge and Boston solidified her international reputation.
