Emily Coppin Stannard was the wife of the artist Joseph Stannard (1797 -1830, British). She completed her studies in Norwich and was very successful with her still lifes, flowers and fruits. In 1820, she received a gold medal of the Society of Arts of Norwich and then went to Holland with her father and made numerous copies there after Van Huysum. From 1823 to 1825, she exhibited in London at the British Institution and the Society of British Artists at Suffolk Street under her maiden name. She painted highly detailed works during her lifetime, in many cases as a tribute to her artistic husband, who passed away at an early age. Emily Coppin Stannard exhibited her works at home in Norwich to much success and acclaim.
