Born in Épernay, France, in 1907, Roger Worms was a versatile artist renowned for his landscapes, marines, still lifes, and figurative compositions. He studied at the prestigious École des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, where he later returned as a professor, sharing his knowledge and passion for art with future generations. Worms was closely associated with his contemporaries Jules Cavaillès and Maurice Brianchon, and together they drew inspiration from the groundbreaking work of Édouard Manet, whose influence is evident in their shared appreciation for color and form.
Worms exhibited extensively at prominent Parisian salons, including the Salon des Peintres Témoins, the Salon des Tuileries, and the Petit Palais, establishing himself as a respected figure in the art world. Beyond painting, he was deeply involved in various facets of the fine arts. He worked as a decorator for the renowned Sèvres porcelain factory and created several large-scale murals, including one for the Paris International Exhibition and another for the town hall in Mazamet.
His works are celebrated for their vibrant compositions and masterful technique, and they are held in several esteemed French institutions, including the museums of Aix-en-Provence, Montpellier, Amiens, and the Musée d’Art Moderne in Paris. Roger Worms’ legacy endures as a testament to his multifaceted talent and significant contributions to 20th-century art.
